Why We Exist
The Mary's Voice: National Coalition of Victims' Family Organizations was founded on a simple belief: no family should have to fight alone.
Across the United States, families from different communities have faced remarkably similar challenges after a loved one became missing or was the victim of violent crime. Many found themselves struggling to be heard during the most critical moments, searching for answers, seeking justice, and working to improve systems that failed to protect the people they loved.
Rather than allowing tragedy to define us, we chose to unite.
Our coalition brings together family-led organizations that have transformed personal loss into public service. By sharing our lived experiences, working collaboratively, and supporting one another, we advocate for stronger victims' rights, improved responses to missing and endangered persons, meaningful legislative reform, greater accountability, and safer communities.
We believe families should never have to beg for help when they believe their loved one is in danger. Their voices deserve to be heard, their concerns deserve to be taken seriously, and every report involving a vulnerable or endangered person deserves an immediate and comprehensive response.
Together, we work to ensure that the lessons learned through unimaginable loss lead to meaningful change that protects future generations.
Because while we cannot change what happened to those we love, we can change what happens to the next family.
