For more information, please click here: (httpsttps://www.22q.org/) In March of 2020, in Charlotte, North Carolina, Mary’s trusting nature led her to be manipulated by people who pretended to be her 'friends.' After months of scheming, they exploited her vulnerability by enticing her into an apartment to 'hang out.' Tragically, these individuals then viciously murdered Mary. A peace-loving soul, Mary Santina Collins was taken from this world in a brutal act of violence by four people disguised as friends. Her trusting spirit cost her her life, and now we must be her voice—Mary's voice.

We will focus on making the maximum positive effort in Mary's name, honoring Mary Collins' disability and her enduring spirit. Our members and volunteers will provide the momentum that helps us affect change to create solutions that will make a long-lasting difference. As we embark on this mission, we will address the necessary changes to ensure that what happened to Mary Santina Collins will never happen again. Our first priority remains Justice for Mary; we want to see her murderers imprisoned for life. Subsequently, we will tackle policies surrounding missing persons, disabled persons, and the Amber/Silver Alert systems, recognizing that Mary was never missing—she was in danger. The policies and procedures MUST be changed. We will also advocate for fairer penalties for murder, as the current system purports to guarantee social justice through the death penalty and prison terms but, in reality, falls drastically short. We are new to this fight and never wanted to be in this position, but we have no choice. In Mary’s name, we will illuminate the darkness, sharing our experiences in the hope of making things better. We will push for and demand change, empowering Mary’s voice as we honor what she cherished most: giving to others.
