1. Increase police response time for a missing or endangered person with a disability. When a person with a disability goes missing or is in danger, police must swiftly implement improved response protocols. We aim to help draft legislation that ensures immediate action is taken to locate missing persons, particularly those with disabilities. Additionally, we are advocating for policy and procedure changes at the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department to enhance the missing persons alert system.
(Goals Amendment)
Moreover, there exists a significant disconnect between alert systems and the ongoing issue of human trafficking, especially concerning children and teens. The entire system requires enhancement to keep pace with today’s technological advancements—both to protect society and recognize the tools used to prey on victims. This aligns with our commitment to fostering death penalty awareness as part of a broader advocacy for justice for Mary and all victims' rights.
2. Create, develop and implement an additional national alert system for missing or endangered persons, particularly those with disabilities, similar to the Amber Alert for missing or abducted children and the Silver Alert for seniors with Alzheimer's, dementia, or other mental disabilities. This initiative could enhance police response improvement and raise death penalty awareness, ensuring justice for Mary and upholding victims' rights.
3. Increase awareness and advocate for change in how the justice system fails victims, focusing on death penalty awareness, particularly in our home state of North Carolina.
+ Raise awareness about the flaws of the death penalty and how it impacts cases like that of Mary, advocating for justice for Mary.
+ Highlight the concerns surrounding plea deals and their implications for victims’ rights.
+ Enhance understanding of the inequities present in the justice system, especially as they pertain to Mary’s case.
+ Increase awareness of ongoing issues in our justice system, including the urgent need for improvements in police response, the role of bonds for murder, and the assertion of victims' rights.

In light of the ongoing discussions surrounding the death penalty awareness, the community continues to rally for justice for Mary, a victim whose case has highlighted the need for a refined missing persons alert system. Activists emphasize that improved police response improvement is critical in addressing such situations effectively. Additionally, advocates are vocal about ensuring victims' rights are upheld throughout the legal process, fostering a society that prioritizes justice for those affected by crime.
