Mary's charity was The Smile Train. They sent her this movie when it came out as a thank you for her donations. She was once paid $100 as a small child for her part in a research project at Duke University. She said she didn't need the money and wanted to send it to the kids who couldn't get their clefts fixed like she did.
This is the type of person they have murdered and taken from this earth. 💔
This is a wonderful film showing the viewpoint of someone with autism. Beautifully done. Worth watching. Here the creators discuss the film:
Elizabeth Bonker's Valedictorian Address
Differently abled people are not only disabled. They have amazing abilities. Beautiful souls and so much to give. Mary didn't like being called disabled. We have learned since her murder, that people in the disability community prefer to call it like it is : A Disability. In honor of Mary and also still trying to get it right, we use both. Most of all, Mary is not expendable. She is amazing 💔
Beautiful inside and out
